Huka Falls, Craters of the Moon, Bungee Jump, Skydive, Watersports, Cycling, Tramping, Skiing and so much more and you can experience this all in a small town called Taupo in the central of the North Island.
If you are an adrenaline junky or nature lover, if you are after a weekend trip or a long term stay, if it is winter, summer, spring or autumn you are always right in Taupo.
Get picked up in a limousine, feel like a star and get a ride to your plane which is waiting for your skydive adventure. At no extra cost, this special pick up service is included in your Skydive Package.
After you take off you will see beautiful Taupo, Turangi and Tongarriro from above and will soon jump out over the lake to get your adrenaline kick.
Skydiving is not the only adrenaline kick you can get in Taupo. If you ever want to experience how it feels like jumping off a bridge (you will get saved in the last minute before death) you definitely should try the bungee jump over the Waikato River.
You still need more? Then off to the water park to do some kite surfing or down to the lake and rent a jet ski.
For all those who love the nature and enjoy hikes with beautiful views, Taupo can cover this. For around $60 (with return) you can catch a bus in the early morning which will bring you to the Tongarriro National Park where you can show of your hiking skills. Around 20km through the National Park will lead you a path where you can dip into the movie set of Lord of the Rings.
For some the 6 – 8 hour walk might be a little bit too long and exhausting. Taupo won’t keep you away of taking it a little bit easier. The Craters of the Moon is a 45 min walk of one of the Geothermal Volcanic Attractions of Taupo beside the Wairakei Valley, the Orakei Korako Geothermal Park & Cave and not to forget the Huka Falls Walk.
After so much adrenaline and walking it is also important to plan a few relaxed days.
Taupo is blessed with several hot spots, both paid and free. Taupo DeBretts Hot Springs and the Wairakei Terraces Hot Pools are set amongst some of Taupo’s most stunning native bush scenery which makes both of them a perfect spot for a night of relaxation. If you are on a budget you can enjoy the Otumuheke Stream at Spar Park for free and a lot more hot pools can be found along the lake front.
A cruise on the lake with the boat of your choice is also available at any season. You will experience how big Lake Taupo actually is, learn a bit about the history and sail across some must see places like the Maori Carving.
If you like the snow, you should be in Taupo at winter time. Mt Ruapehu will be covered in snow and is ready for you to put your snowboard/ski boots on and have a day of fun in the snow.
In summer the lake is warm enough to go swimming, waterskiing or paddle boarding.
All other attractions which are listed above and many more, you can do any season either if it is freezing cold, burning hot or just something in between.
This is why Taupo is also a very attractive town for travelers to stay long term as Taupo is always busy and you can definitely find there a job in hospitality any time of the year.
